Department history
The Department of Economics and Service was founded in 1967 under the name Political Economy. In 1992, the department was renamed into "Economic Theory", and in 2014 - into "Economics and Service".
The main consumers of the graduates of the department are the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the administration of the Kashkadarya region, commercial banks, private enterprises, the manufacturing sector and the service sector, travel companies and travel agents.
Currently, the department is headed by the candidate of economic sciences, associate professor G. Kuchkarov. The scientific direction of the department is "Regional problems of increasing the competitiveness of the national economy."
Since the creation of the department, 2 doctors of sciences, 11 candidates of sciences have been trained, who have made a significant contribution to the scientific potential of the university. At present, the scientific and methodological activity of the department is organized effectively, in recent years, the teachers of the department have published more than 10 textbooks, monographs, about 20 teaching aids. More than 1000 scientific, methodological and popular articles and abstracts have been published in international, national and local publications.
Currently, the department employs 20 professors and teachers, including: 2 doctors of sciences, professors, 2 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 1 candidate of sciences, 5 senior teachers, 10 teachers.
Undergraduate
In the 2012-2013 academic year, the department accepted students in the direction 5231600 - "Labor Economics and Sociology". Today, 105 full-time students are studying at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th courses of this direction. Students also study by correspondence course.
From the 2020-2021 academic year in the direction 5231600 - "Human Resource Management", students have been accepted and 27 students are studying in this specialty. Students also study by correspondence course.
In the 2014-2015 academic year, directions 5160300 - "Tourism (international and domestic tourism)" were organized, currently 112 students are enrolled in courses 2, 3 and 4 of this direction in the form of full-time education. Students also study by correspondence course.
From the 2020-2021 academic year, students were admitted to the direction 5160300 - "Tourism (by areas of study)", 89 students are enrolled in the full-time form. Students also study by correspondence course.
Since the 2019-2020 academic year, the department has organized directions 5233400 - "Marketing in the field of tourism" and currently 43 students are studying in these directions.
The disciplines taught at the department are based on curricula and curricula approved by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Working curricula and teaching materials for the disciplines are based on modern pedagogical and information technologies.
Master's degree
From the 2018-2019 academic year, masters are accepted in the specialty 5A610301 - "Tourism", 4 people study at the 1st stage, and 7 masters at the 2nd stage.
Since the 2019-2020 academic year, masters have been accepted in the specialty 5A230110 - “Demography. Labor Economics ”, 2 masters study at the 1st stage.
Since the 2020-2021 academic year, masters have been accepted in the specialty 5A231601 - "Human Resource Management", 8 masters study at the 1st stage.

Research activities of the department
Professors and teachers, researchers of the department conduct research on the topic "Regional problems of increasing the competitiveness of the national economy." The results of scientific research are published in international and national journals Scopus, Impact factor, VAK and scientific and practical conferences.
In 2019, an employee of the department Ochilov A.A. received a doctorate in economics.
Currently, senior teachers M. Ostanova, J. Kasimov, L. Babaeva, teachers G. Nabiev, O. Dzhuraev and J. Ismatullaev are conducting research work.
Studying at the basic doctoral studies A. Kobilov in the direction of 08.00.12. - Regional Economics (PhD), S. Makhmudov in the direction of 08.00.12. - Regional Economics (PhD) and B. Baratov in the direction 08.00.13. - Management.
Also, the department operates a scientific and methodological seminar. The seminar is conducted by the head of the department, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor G. Kuchkarov.
Since 2012, the department has organized a student circle "Innovator" (head - M. Raimova). In 2021, “Tourism” was organized (headed by E.Gulomkhasanov). The activities of the clubs are aimed at involving students in research activities and the meaningful organization of students' free time. Under the guidance of professors and teachers, more than 50 scientific articles and abstracts of students have been published in collections of materials of international and republican scientific conferences. Students visited historical monuments, travel agencies and agencies, hotels, modern architectural structures, the Civil Service Agency, the "Project Factory" and other attractions of the region, met with foreign and domestic experts. Students regularly participate in Olympiads in economic disciplines, start-up projects and other competitions, and receive prizes. The circle conducts its activities in English, Turkish and Russian.
Since November 2016, the department has participated in the EU program Erasmus + 574253-EPP-1-2016-1-DE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP MAGNET: “Universities are the main partners of the network of vocational training centers for the middle level of the population in Uzbekistan (total cost 646471, 0 euro). In December 2018, the head of the department is Associate Professor G. Kuchkarov, Associate Professor. G. Erkaeva, teachers J. Ismatullaev and S. Makhmudov were trained at the Galati University in Romania within the framework of the project. In 2019, within the framework of the project, work was carried out in the amount of 200364000 (two hundred million three hundred sixty-four thousand) soums.
