In 1965, the Sports Faculty separated from the Faculty of Natural History of the Karshi State Pedagogical Institute and began its activities as a department. In 1971, this department was transformed into the Faculty of Physical Education. Since 2023, the name of the Faculty of Physical Education has been changed to the Faculty of Sports. Prof. Sh.Kurbanov, Prof. Y.Khudoiberdiev, Assoc. Prof. G.Salikhov, Senior Lecturer N.Djalilov, Assoc. Prof. Sh.U.Sultanov, Senior Lecturer F.G.Kakhkhorov, Assoc. Prof. Eshpulatov F.A., Assoc. Prof. J.Khurramov worked as deans. Since October 2022, PhD in Psychology F.Egamberdiev has been the dean of the faculty. Since 2024, Associate Professor Akbar Tukhlievich Jabbarov has been the dean. The faculty includes 2 departments: the Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Department of Sports Activities.

Currently, the faculty includes Amilova Fatimahan, winner of the gold medal in swimming at the 2016 Paralympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Tozhiev Azizbek Khusnidinovich, champion of the Asian Games in boxing, Normominov Arnold, winner of the Asian Wrestling Championship held in Thailand. Ergashova Filura, bronze medalist of the World Championship in national wrestling, Kholmurodova Farangiz, Asian champion in judo Murtazaev Nurbek, bronze medalist of the Asian Championship in judo, Yuldoshev Dilshod, winner of the World Youth Championship, champion of Asia and Central Asia in karate, winner of a number of international tournaments, bronze medalist of the 1st CIS Games, Egamberdieva Bonu, 23-year-old Asian champion in football Davronov Rakhimzhon and other winners and prize-winners of the Asian and our Republic championships in a number of sports are trained among young people. Our university has created a football team "Lochin". Students of our faculty play in this team. It is gratifying that this team won the 2022 Kashkadarya Cup.
The Department of Sports Activity was established on September 4, 2023. Currently, the head of the department is Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Associate Professor Khurramov Jasur Koilievich. Today the professors of the department are: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Khudoiberdiev B., Associate Professor Nuralieva U., senior lecturers Salaydinov B., Sh. Nurov, M. Yodgorov, Norov Olim Tashpulatovich, Yomgurov Goffor, teachers Safarov Anvar Safarovich, Raykhonov Abror Mukhammadievich, Suvonov Kadyr Yuldoshevich, Ragimov Musirmon Berdievich, Boriev Kamal Suyunovich, Akbarov Sherzod Ahrorovich, Normurodov Ulugbek Meleevich, Atavullaev Bekzod Bakhtiyorogly, Soatov Dilshod Makhmaraimovich, Abdukholikov Beknurjon Alisher ugli teach students and supervise students' research work. The Department of Physical Education and Sport was established in 1971. Over the past years, the department was renamed "Fundamentals of Sports", "Theory and Methods of Physical Culture", "Physical Education and Sports", "Physical Education and Sports". The department employs prominent masters of sports Professor Khudoyberdiev Yu.A., Assoc. Prof. L. Salikhov A., senior lecturers Khakberdiev M.T., Berdiyev M., Fursov V.M., Madaminov M. Until today, the department was headed by Assoc. Prof. Vardiashvili, Associate Professor S.B. Rasulov, senior lecturers F.G.Kakhkhorov, F.R.Eshpulatov, S.B.Salaydinov. At the moment, the head of the department is Associate Professor Sh.U.Sultanov. Research work with students is carried out by Sh.U. Sultanov, Assoc. Prof. A. Jabborov, Assoc. Prof. F. Eshpulatov, Assoc. Prof. G. Rakhmonova.
