Joining Forces Against Substance Abuse: Karshi State University Takes a Stand

In response to a directive from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a nationwide initiative, “Combatting the Rise of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Among Youth,” has been launched, spanning from February 1st to March 1st this year. Educational institutions are actively engaging in various initiatives to tackle the pressing issue of substance abuse among young people. Today, Karshi State University hosted a comprehensive discussion addressing the prevention of illegal drug circulation, including narcotics and psychotropic substances, with a focus on countering activities against the Office of Internal Affairs.

The event saw the participation of dedicated individuals from the Kashkadarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs, featuring Captain Sh. Sharopov, Senior Lieutenant M. Bashirov, esteemed nurse Dilfuza Turabova, Rektor''s Advisor A. Jo''rayev, and University Prevention Inspector M. Jabbarov, along with professors and students. The discourse shed light on the severe threats posed by drug abuse, underscoring its detrimental effects on public health, safety, and the socio-economic fabric of society. Notably, it was emphasised that a significant portion of individuals involved in drug-related crimes are young people.

Attendees were presented with informative reports detailing the adverse consequences of drug abuse, complemented by impactful video presentations aimed at enhancing understanding and awareness. The event concluded with a collective commitment from participants to address this critical issue unitedly and resolutely, leaving a lasting impression on all involved.
