
Pride of KarSU: Maydonov Brings Home Gold from Asia-Oceania Sambo Championship
From April 14 to 20, Tashkent hosted the Asia-Oceania Sambo Championship, a major international event held at the “Uzbekistan” (Yunusabad) Sports Complex. The competition brought together over 600 athletes from nearly 25 countries across the Asia-Oceania region, competing across various sambo categories. The championship featured a wide range of contests, including sambo and combat sambo for men and women, youth and junior divisions, as well as special categories for visually impaired athletes and veterans. In a proud moment for Uzbekistan, Diyorbek Maydonov, a second-year student at the Faculty of Philology, delivered an outstanding performance and clinched the gold medal in the 64 kg weight category. Competing in the visually impaired division, Diyorbek showcased remarkable skill and determination, earning top honors and proudly representing his country on the international stage.
