As part of the Karshi State University delegation’s official visit to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a cultural event dedicated to Uzbekistan’s national heritage and arts was held at the World Horti Center — a renowned international exhibition and trade platform. The event featured a special presentation on the art of making and playing the rubab (an uzbek traditional stringed instrument,), which was inscribed in 2024 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Guests were treated to live performances of traditional Uzbek folk melodies, including Koshchinar (Qo’shchinor), Norim-norim, Khorezm Lazgi (Xorazm lazgisi), Andijan Polka (Andijon polkasi), and other classic compositions, played on the rubab and doira (a traditional Uzbek percussion instrument, similar to a tambourine). The captivating music sparked enthusiastic engagement from the audience, who joyfully joined in Uzbek traditional dances. Guests also showed great interest in Uzbekistan’s national attire — particularly the colorful atlas fabrics and traditional doppis (skullcaps). The event concluded with the serving of plov (Uzbek pilaf), a beloved national dish that gave attendees a true taste of Uzbek hospitality and culinary tradition.
