INOM MADJIDOV: QUALITY ASSURANCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TASK

Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Inomjon Majidov and representatives of the Ministry attended the event.

The appeal is a program document in the president's address; the higher education system has also been assigned specific tasks based on the issues that our people and our society expect. Systematizing them, we set out the following main directions:

1. Increasing coverage;

2. Improvement of educational standards;

3. Quality assurance of education;

4. Increasing the scientific potential of universities.


Higher education will be expanded in the appeal, the president set a task to double enrollment on a state grant. This also shows that Uzbekistan is the main investor in the training of qualified personnel for the development of the society in Uzbekistan.

We have already begun work on this task. First of all, it is possible to identify educational areas that will increase the admission criteria based on governmental grants. Then the demand and supply in the labor market is taken into account. In addition, together with the partner ministries and agencies will study the prospects of socio-economic development of the regions.

The quality of education is the most important thing.

The petition addressed another important issue of higher education - the quality of education. We continue to work hard to build higher education in a modern manner, to introduce best practices, and we will continue to strengthen it.

 

Starting from the 2020/2021 academic year, six undergraduate courses in pedagogical education will be valid for three years. These include music education, physical culture, technology education, call-up military education, fine arts and engineering graphics, and physical education and sports in preschool and elementary education. Specialists have already begun work on this issue.

The requirements for candidates as professors and teachers will be increased in the higher education institutions will be strengthened, the mechanisms for selecting professors and teachers will be improved, and young people will have the opportunities for young people to expand their research activities and, if necessary, increase their experience abroad.

In 2019, more than 2,000 teachers underwent internships through the El Hope Foundation, grants and agreements with universities. We plan to increase this figure to 3,000 this year.

The percentage of non-specialty subjects is planning to be reduced.

Non-specialist subjects are halved. The content of education is the standard, not the external pressure. First of all, we will change the approach to curriculum development.

In the world practice there is a requirement of the employer in training of personnel. In other words it is a matter of competence.

In the HEIs, the requisite competencies are determined based on the needs and suggestions of employers. Then the universities of the same direction are united in one methodical unit, which defines the disciplines that are taught for these competencies. The main thing is that both sides of the curriculum should be involved - employer and university.

About the purpose of the students’

Parents want their child to become a highly qualified specialist. The way in which they have changed in their four years of study depends on the environment at the university.

That is why we need to improve the environment and quality of universities in such a way that the student feels that he or she does not have to go away from their main goal. That is the problem that always torments me as a minister. If the quality of education is good, the purpose of the student will not change.

The purpose of the study for four years will not be changed.
